Ignacio received his bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid in 2016. He completed his Ph.D. degree from The Ohio State University in 2022 under the supervision of Dr. Jeffrey Sutton. During his Ph.D. Ignacio’s main topic of research was the experimental investigation of the internal flame structure of turbulent premixed flames using advanced laser-based optical diagnostics. This included high-resolution temperature measurements and the development and application of a combined filtered Rayleigh scattering (FRS) and particle image velocimetry (PIV) approach for simultaneous temperature-velocity measurements in turbulent premixed flames.
Ignacio joined the CAPS laboratory in 2024, his current research includes the use of optical diagnostics for the investigation of hydrodynamic instabilities in novel hydrogen-flame combustors for aerospace applications.
